With that being said, the book was in disagreement with my instructor IMHO (in my humble opinion) on silk reeling. My take is that while I enjoyed reading the book, I will be taking from my instructor for quite a while and not being interested in becoming an instructor; I will take the book with a grain of thought. Sorry if this seems trite, I just am not that much into Tai Chi. Great philosophy and a greater exercise; I kind'a stop there...
The author presents the subject very well and he obviously has a good knowledge of his art, however, as he states silk-reeling is purely a physical skill and not as most tai chi teachers would tell you the power of chi spiraling up from the foot to your hand. I did not find any new material in this book from what has already been presented by other teachers, although I do agree with the author that if the physical movement is not right then all the imagining of chi flow that you can muster, will not achieve the objective. The instructions for silk-reeling movements are very well explained in the book, but I still like to imagine chi flowing around the body, without which the ancient philosophy of chi loses its mysticism and silk reeling becomes just another exercise.

Excellent resource book for internal arts power and applications ! Teaches real power applications and truly demystifies the real applications of internal defences
The information is helpful but one must get past the author's supercilious and condescending tone. I know I don't know all this. That's why I bought the book. Continuing to reference the ignorance of those who are not yet masters of his technique doesn't encourage a desire to learn.
